Götti Eyewear

We are extremely excited to introduce a new eyewear brand to our store today!

As the title suggests, the brand we are introducing today is Götti .
Hold on not this Gotti ya.

John Gotti, infamous American gangster and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City.)

But the Götti we are talking about today is equally badass but in a good and different way. This Götti is all the way from Switzerland and is all about producing high quality eyewear.

Götti was founded in 1998, by Sven Götti in Switzerland, and ever since, it has been focusing on innovation, quality and sustainability. Under his leadership, an unmistakable minimalist and harmonious design language is the distinguishing feature throughout their entire collection. Götti eyewear are the unequivocal expression of stylistic confidence, quality and Swissness.

Looking at their eyewear design reminds us of the minimalistic, simplicity but yet very clean, elegant and practical style. We think that this is very in line with their roots – the Swiss designs.

Most of the production of Gotti eyewear takes place in their Wädenswil headquarters. Everything from the initial hand-drawn sketches and design ideas, to marketing, production and worldwide distribution are mostly done there. Eyewear made of solely acetate and titanium are produced in collaboration with specialized manufacturers in Germany, Austria, and Japan.

DESIGNER – SVEN GÖTTI

“For me, designing glasses is a fascinating and challenging labor of love I gladly devote my expe-rience to. Designing glasses challenges me equally on an aesthetic and mechanical level.”

A pair of glasses always consists of the same three components: two temples and a front piece with two lenses. However, it’s in our nature as humans to develop countless variants of this over time. I am glad to be a part of this never ending universe of eyeglasses. When I developed my first pair of glasses over 25 years ago, it was the beginning of a passion that continues to inspire me to this day. The aesthetics, zeitgeist, materials, fine mechanical solutions, and lately also the possibilities of 3-D printing – these are all part of the formula for making beautiful glasses.

Their eyewear are well loved all over the world, and are worn by personalities like Oprah Winfrey.

Apart from the main collection the other two collections are The Dimension collections & the Perspective collections. They both represent a complete redesign of traditional eyeglass products and are packed full of innovation and optimization.

The company’s own workshop enables immediate realization of new ideas and ongoing research into new materials and improved manufacturing processes. In addition, local partnerships mean that distances traveled for production are short and efficient – a high degree of flexibility and independent, local manufacturing true to Swiss quality standards. Glasses made in Switzerland.

Götti Dimension – Boundless variation for sustainable individualists. Made in our own workshop using 3D printing to protect the earth’s resources. Thanks to targeted production, the lens size, temple length, and nose bridge can be selected to create a perfect fit. The frames are extremely light, highly robust, and presented with a matte finish and an unmistakable urban appearance.

Götti Perspective – Consistently minimalistic with lots of character. This rimless collection is characterized by utmost technical precision and a refined aesthetic. The glasses consist of only a few individual pieces which join together to form a seamless entity entirely free of traditional connection methods. The result: A customizable system with virtually limitless possibilities due to its uncomplicated design. A spectrum of colors can be freely combined with each other. Theses models which feature high-grade materials meet the most rigorous demands regarding style confidence, durability, and comfort.

Götti Perspective

  • Unlimited variations – Made in Switzerland.
  • Consistently minimalist and comprised of only a few, innovative parts that combine to form ultralight eyewear.
  • Multifaceted diversity for confident personalities.
  • Unique rimless design

From the initial sketch to the finished product the Perspective line was developed completely by Götti. The main focus was to create our own rimless glasses system. The patented construction of the glasses is based strictly on screw-less connections. The result is an extremely comfortable work of design, which has limitless creativity. Perspective glasses are produced by Götti in its own manufactory.

System – Consistently minimalist – with lots of character. The glasses consist of only a few ingenious components put together without using screws, solder, or glue. Due to its ideal material characteristics, the special additively manufactured connector provides a permanent connection between frame and lens, at the same time creating a soft protective coating. Combined with metal components of high-grade Sandvik stainless steel, the frames fulfill the highest criteria for style and durability. The glasses are extremely light and very comfortable to wear. The collection is very clearly structured and contains limitless options and combinations: Every shape is available in 3 sizes, as well as in the variations Rimless, Loop, Bold, and for some models also in Space and Folio. Thus, multiple style directions can be created using the same system. The rimless version is consistently minimalist and offers maximum lightness, extreme comfort, and exudes a statement of confidence and simplicity. A paper-thin Loop rim accentuates the lens shape and creates a subtle color accent, creating a dynamic interplay between delicate understatement and strong expression. The variable thickness of the Bold rims lend the glasses an even stronger expression. An exciting outline creates personality while remaining incredibly light. The Space rim or Folio contour create confident glasses for daring trendsetters and strong individualists. The combination possibilities are virtually endless as well: Nose pads, temple tips, connectors, and rims are available in more than 10 different colors and can be freely combined with one another.

Production – Every frame part was developed by Götti Switzerland and is produced in its own manufactory in Switzerland. The connectors as well as the rims are made of polyamide using additive production methods.

Götti Dimension

  • Additive precision – Made in Switzerland
  • Thanks to the innovative, resource-conserving production method, extensive variations for individualist are created.
  • Extremely light, very durable and thanks to the matte surface in a distinct velvety look.

The Dimension collection is produced entirely by Götti in its own manufactory. From the initial idea and design, 3-D programming and additive production, to dying and final assembly – every step is carried out with great care and experience on site. Using modern and sustainable manufacturing, an extremely comfortable pair of glasses is created in typical Götti design style: innovative, condensed, well thought out.

Piece by Piece – Additive production methods open up many new possibilities and offer designers great creative freedom. Production occurs piece by piece, and small batches allow for many customizable options. The frames are extremely light, very resilient, and the even matte surface is immediately noticeable.

Production – It all starts with the design of the shape. A computer forms the design into a complete frame, and transforms it into a printable model. The dedicated and sustainable production is done using the most modern additive production methods in our own manufactory. The basic material is polyamide fed as a fine powder into the SLS printer which then builds up the shape layer by layer with a laser beam. Numerous surface treatments are then needed to finish the single frame components. During the final dying process the specially created color penetrates into the originally white material and creates a uniform and durable coloration.

Materials used by Götti :

their acetate glasses are known for their superior comfort, balanced design language, and incomparable hand polish. Götti develops the colors for its high-end acetate in conjunction with an Italian acetate manufacturer steeped in tradition. The frames have been produced by selected factories in Germany and Austria since 1998.

Material – Acetate is a hypoallergenic plant-based material. The base component is cotton, a renewable resource. It is light, holds its shape, and offers virtually unlimited color nuances – the acetate sheets are manufactured exclusively for Götti in Italy.

Production – The subsequent production stages occur in close collaboration with our factories in Germany and Austria. As a first step a computer-controlled machine mills the acetate sheets. After numerous finishing stages the single frame components are polished for several days in a wooden drum, which lends a gleaming shimmer and soft edges. A total of over 200 work steps are necessary before the glasses are ready for final polishing.

Hand Polished By – A unique characteristic of every Götti acetate frame is the masterly hand polishing. It requires great attention to detail, experience, and skill. Our polishing artists’ names are Barbara, Brigitte, Ludmilla, Renate, and Waltraud – with their passion and enthusiasm they coax life into the colors and facettes. That’s why we engrave the polisher’s name in every frame as a personal seal of quality.

Titanium frames by Götti Switzerland captivate with their outstanding lightness and highest quality craftsmanship. Since its inception, Götti has trusted the manufacture of their titanium frames to the same company in Japan, and this long collaboration enables a seamless realization of design ideas.

Material – Titanium has many advantages as a material for glasses. Despite its lightness, it possesses an extremely high degree of stability – in addition, it is very corrosion resistant and pleasant on the skin.

Production – For over 20 years, the complex production has taken place at one of the most renowned frame manufacturers in Japan. It is a long standing friendship based on mutual know-how and passion for our glasses. The production differs with each type of glasses. Some models are formed of fine titanium wire. These frames impress with their gentle finesse and minimal presence, while maintaining their robustness. Other models are stamped from a titanium sheet and repeated strong compression achieves the desired stability. Up to 300 tons of weight are utilized to precisely form the components into the required shape using up to seven individual stamp and press tools. Whether it’s an end-piece, or an outer contour – every miniscule curvature in the design is expressed with highest precision. A fusion of expertise and machine is essential, whereby numerous intermediary steps are done using very traditional craftsmanship and finesse.

All in all, we are super duper stoked to be one of the first few in Penang to bring this great brand and their latest collection to our lovely island. If you are looking for a pair of glasses which combines traditional craftsmanship like eyewear manufacturing and the latest industrial technology, one that is ultralight and looks simple yet practical like all things and Swiss then do drop by and try them out for yourself.

P.S we will be releasing a video review on the products soon…. hopefully !
