Masunaga 2022 Spring/Summer Collection is here in store! For those who do not know Masunaga, they are one of the oldest eyewear makers in the world. Established in year 1905 in Japan, and has been producing high quality eyewear ever since. They take eyewear making very seriously and has a no-compromise approach.

The brand usually releases two collections a year. One in the Spring/Summer, aka S/S Collection and another in the Autumn/Winter, aka the A/W Collection. Today we will be talking about the Masunaga 2022 S/S Collection. This year’s S/S Collection is really unique and refreshing.

We see bits of changes here and there but subtle enough to preserve the brand’s identity.

This collection spots something we like to call as a floating nosepad where from the top it appears to looks like a two piece design but in actual it’s a one piece design. Such design although simple, adds layers and dimension to the frame and add some complexity to the design.

What we find really interesting in this collection is the use of this new matted navy blue. It’s pleasing to look at, not too attention grabbing and yet not boring. From far it looks dark like a dark blue or even looks like black from certain angle, but up close it is a very special kind of matte navy color. Such color is definitely new to us!

Apart from that, the collection still inherits most of the superior built quality like any other frames made by Masunaga. Hinges are smooth and the joints all feel seamless. Finishing are beautifully polished and the shine from the surfaces are flawless. Weight wise, the frames are super lightweight as all of them are made of high grade Japanese titanium. That being said, they are built to be durable too.
